 This
is my 26 year old son, Jessie L. Goins IV and he is in desperate need of
a kidney transplant. Jessie was diagnosed with IgA Neuropathy which
acts upon the kidneys. At the present time he undergoes peritoneal
dialysis several times a day. He has been on dialysis for over 2
years and the prognosis for dialysis patients without a transplant is not
good. Dialysis is only a temporary solution while one is waiting
for a transplant and is only expected to remain on it effectively for 3
to 6 years. Jessie is on the nationwide transplant list but because
his blood type is O+ it is expected to be a very long wait. A living
related donor, who is ready and willing to donate, has been identified.
This donor matches 5 out of 6 points for the transplant to be accepted.
However, his family is short of funds, and would not be able to manage
during his 3 to 6 week recuperation period. Therefore donations are
being requested and accepted to aide this family during their sacrafice.
The funds will be used for the family to survive during the donor’s recovery
period and if there is any excess donations they will be used to aide Jessie
in paying for the antirejection medication which can cost as much as $3,000.00
per month.
It has taken a lot to bring me to the point of setting aside my pride and asking for help. I have seen this boy go from a vibrant healthy and active truck driver to a person who can barely walk because of the way this affects his legs. He has gone from the high ages of driving for a large trucking company to drawing disability from the government. I myself am legally blind and am also on a fixed income so there is little help there. So this is the situation and I wll stop before I start sounding like I am begging.
